Arkansas Native “Kris Allen Wins American Idol” Adam Lambert Settles for the Runner-up

Kris Allen, a native of Conway and a college student from the University of Central Arkansas (UCA), won the eighth season of “American Idol” (the most popular U.S. television show) unexpectedly grabbing the title from theater actor and finale rival Adam Lambert who has been many times overrated and predicted to win settled for the runner-up.

Following Ryan Seacrest‘s announcement, Kris Allen was in a shock and said to Ryan, “It feels good, but Adam deserves this. I don’t even know what to feel right now. This is crazy.”

Allen won the most number of votes by capturing over the audiences hearts through his massive appeal and uniquely putting his personal, acoustic spin on popular tunes like “Heartless” by Kanye West and his passionate rendition of “Ain’t No Sunshine” during the finals night.
